I've just spent the last 4 hours, watching undercover footage, and video clips,of mans cruelty towards Pigs, new born Piglets,Cows.Chickens, a so called 'animal park' in China, where they throw live Goats,Lambs and chickens to Tigers & Lions, for the amusement of a paying crowd. The Goats & Lambs, were thrown from a height of about 25 feet to the ground.
There were quite a few Americans cheering things along.
I also watched ( on the PETA site) footage of the Chinese fur trade...how evil they are to the animals. Skinning them alive, then throwing their still living bodies on top of other animals, still alive, looking into the camera lens, just staring, blinking at ME. I can't imagine ,just how much pain, those poor creatures must be in.I knew certain ...'people', from certain countries, are a cruel to ANY animals. But how long does this have to go on, when there is evidence of cruelty EVERYWHERE.
The film i watched at a pig farm, in America, was disgusting, they were just a bunch of sadistic scum, hell bent on inflicting as much pain on the Pigs as they could get away with.
This is just a little rant, from the Ram, but cruelty of any kind, to man or beast just makes my blood boil. but how long will this cruelty to all animals, all over the world be allowed to carry on? Click on 'Chinese Fur Trade', and see for yourself, how low man can go.

I don't know why ... I'm not even precisely sure of the question because I couldn't stomach reading the whole blog. It's just too painful.

I will never understand the torture of animals for pleasure. I can never watch the shows and would never support them let alone benefit from them. I don't agree with hunting for purely sport either.

On a completely different topic - I do eat meat and understand animals are raised for our benefit and sustenance and that they are butchered, slaughtered, killed so that we may benefit.
I think I missed how we jumped from pure torture for pleasure to meal planning? So let's jump to medical research on animals for human benefit as well as testing for the retail industry - I don't always agree with it but animals before people and we still benefit - sad but true.

I noticed that Americancs were specifically cited in Aries' post...twice, and I would like to point out that cruelty exists in all countires of the world, not just America. I know (or at least I *HOPE* I do) that Aries is not pointing fingers. I'm just leveling the playing field.

Now, onto the actual subject:

Cruelty to animals is simply that: cruel. People don't do these things unless they get something out of it. It's a high or a thrill, or something. Personally, I find it revolting.

I am an omnivore, like many of my fellow Americans, however, I choose to eat primarily fish and chicken. I do not feel there is anything wrong with raising animals simply for harvestation purposes, but I do feel they deserve humane treatment. I buy meat products from companies I feel are reputable, or I buy free range.

I feel every person ( not just meat-eaters ) is responsible for our enviroment and the living things within it. For the most part, people as a whole are caring, giving and responsible. We cannot let the few who choose to persue these grossly abusive activities and behaviors get away with it. When they are caught, they will be prosecuted by law. There is a reason why these people have to be videotaped illicitly-- they know it's illegal and they don't want to get caught.

I hope that in the mean time, we will all be vigilant in taking care of our environments and one another. We need to be accepting and tolerant of others' choices, and understand that not all people hold the exact same values as our own. We also need to understand that we are ALL human, and therefore...we are NOT perfect. --True

Smin2u

I was not referring to our farmers, for I for one love our farmers ...here in Oz land it is vital part of life and our heritage.

I have lived on a farm and have myself had to kill a chicken, and have seen other live stock being killed.... killed humanly, not in some sadistic inhumane manner.

What I was referring to was the sick cruelty that some people think is their right to inflict on others, both human and animals.

Do YOU defend the slow torture and killing of animal by people that ENJOY and pay for this sport?

Do you think that those that skin animals ALIVE to make money from their fur as "farmers"

Would YOU eat the meat that was gained from "farms" that cause their animal unbearable pain for the purpose of making more of a buck?

smin2u, I don't think this blog was ever about compassionate farming, and the reality that most people eat meat.

I think it is possible that a farmer can get some satisfaction in knowing that his stock has been raised in good conditions and slaughtered humanely. It's a fact of life - but when it is being done on the cheap and with people deriving pleasure from the torture of animals that's a whole different ball game.

The original post was about animals being tortured for entertainment value - it wasn't knocking farming.

As a slight aside, one of my bugs is meat eating friends who cannot bear to think of the animal being killed or who will only eat meat that doesn't look like what it came from. My view is that they should buy from the best source, local/free range/organic, depending on their budget of course, and not support the intensive farming methods where animals are raised in unacceptable conditions and suffer before their death.

In case it's relevant, I'm speaking as a vegetarian who totally understands the need for the meat industry but who would like to see it more humanely run.

I was raised on a farm and we had to have the butchering done. Yes that is the term for making them into meat for our freezer.

I cannot tolerate cruelty to animals when they are killed in a slow torture way. I am not a vegan nor a vegatarian. I am a carnivore and always will be but the things that PETA shows does nto apply to all plants.

Oz do you really think farmers get pleasure out of having to harvest their animals.

think about your chicken dish or the steak or livers or fat fish etc.

True Ozzy, but not enough is done to inforce the laws regarding animal welfare. It's too easy to turn a blind eye.
I stopped eating Chinese food (in protest i suppose?)when i saw cats being boiled alive in the Canton reigon of China, i miss pancake rolls, but my money is staying in MY pocket.

OMG....as a total animal lover (I have 9 rescued pets) this sickens me to death. I can't even watch programs like "Animal Cops" cuz I literally cry for hours afterward. As people, we should stand up for these tortured animals as they have no voice of their own. Unfortunately alot of people in society are of the mindset that "they are only animals". I however am not one of thos people!!!!

This is too sad, really I dont know why we as human we think its alright to do this?

I guess as long as there are people that get pleasure??? from this it will continue.

Maybe those that get caught doing it should have some of the same inflicted on them as punishment, see how they like it?
