Have you ever had someone give you a really interesting challenge? As most of you know, I love to write. blog. journal. and chat. I also like to try my hand at stories. But as I was chatting the other night... someone gave me a challenge to write a story... So... what kind of story? I asked. And here was the suggestion for a beginning point: "You are to arrive at the hotel as planned. It's a nice place, tucked away, private.... the room key is waiting for you at the desk, take the elevator up to the room". And of course, the first thing my mind says is Why? Who am I supposed to be meeting? And why are we meeting this way?? And I can tell that my mind has taken off, already imagining some kind of story, because I'm asking questions. Funny how a mind works, huh?

Now the easy thing for this would be a typical "romantic getaway" type story. Quite easy to be written, I'm a romantic at heart. But could I turn it into something that becomes mysterious as well? And with that thought, my mind jumped to the movie True Lies. Where she meets her husband in a hotel, his intention to create something romantic, her intention to play some kind of spy role because she's bored with her life. (I liked that movie, by the way.)

The gauntlet has been thrown down... and I'm going to write that story, and toss it back at him. Only to see if he can do the same. But what about the rest of you? Does an introduction like that make your mind begin to weave a tale? Imagine the possibilities? Want to create an ending? If so, give it a try ... and blog it!!
HUGS to everyone!

As a writer, with over 20 books published, it sounds a great idea and you should take on the challenge. Seeing your name in print is not the only bonus, it's what you leave for your children and their children...

I do hope you put it in your blog, so we might read it...
Good luck.

Sure has Right now I have three Fantasy books in the works all in various stages if completion. The hardest part for me is to not correct the punctuation and grammar while writing, for me it kills the flow of ideas. A good exercise for me is to just keep going putting Ideas and words on the screen and keep going, then when you cannot go any further correct the grammar and punctuation mistakes. then put it up for a day or two and re read making corrections in flow of the sentences

I've been writing myself for quite a long time. I discovered fanfiction a few years back and been writing stories for Chakotay and Janeway of Star Trek Voyager since then. I'm totally enthralled with him and I think she's got spunk... made the whole process very easy.

Well, good luck in the writing. I too have been writing as well. But I ran inot a problem. As with a lot of authors, I've found out, they often like to draw out a story line to help them focus on where they want to go next in a book and how they might get to the end. Mine turned out to be a 7 novel series. Wish you all the best on you rwriting and remember that your imagination is the limit, and that has no bounderies!!! x

Wow what a great challenge to have been given.

I have alway wanted to write fiction and non fiction but have never just set myself to the task.

Good luck, would love to read it once it done.
